Before you arrive

Complete your forms on your device, save and reopen them to check your answers, then print and bring your copy. You can also complete paperwork at the office. Call (804) 608-3045 about your appointment or insurance before you travel.

  • Note when your symptoms started, what has changed, and what you have already tried.
  • Have your health history, medicines, supplements and previous care details ready to discuss.
  • Choose one everyday activity you want to make easier, such as walking, sleeping or working.

A conversation, then an examination

Your doctor will discuss your concerns, health history and possible treatment options before performing an examination. Explain how symptoms affect your daily activities, and mention new or changing symptoms. Ask what the findings mean and whether further assessment is needed.

Imaging when it is needed

X-rays are not automatic. When the doctor considers imaging necessary, this practice orders it through a local imaging center. Ask how to arrange the referral, whether previous images are useful, and who can explain any separate imaging charges.

Treatment and home instructions

Treatment may start at the first visit after the assessment and any necessary studies, when appropriate. Before agreeing, discuss the proposed approach, alternatives and costs. If you receive home instructions, ask which activities to follow or avoid and what symptoms should prompt a call.

Leave with a clear next step

Ask when your findings and response will be reviewed, whether a follow-up visit is recommended, and what that visit is intended to achieve. The appointment schedule should reflect your own assessment.

  • What are we trying to improve?
  • What should I do between visits?
  • When will we review progress, visit frequency and expected costs?

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Do I need an X-ray?

Not everyone does. Your doctor will decide whether imaging is appropriate based on your history and examination.

How do I schedule?

Call (804) 608-3045. The team will help you find an appointment and answer your first-visit questions.

Can I discuss costs before treatment?

Yes. Call about insurance benefits and self-pay options before your visit. If you do not have or use insurance, ask about a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges.
